□ If safe to do so, turn off circuit breakers supplying electricity to wet areas and unplug and remove any small electrical devices currently in wet areas.
□ Remove small furnishings from carpet to prevent stains and speed restoration.
□ Place aluminum foil under legs of wood furniture, especially antiques, to prevent stains.
□ Hang draperies and pin up furniture skirts to avoid contact with wet floors, which prevent watermarks.
□ Remove books, shoes, paper goods, fabrics, potted plants or other items that may stain floor coverings (check under beds and in closets for these items too).
□ Remove and secure breakables, moisture-sensitive or high-value items.
□ Plan for restoration crews to move furniture into dry areas with vinyl, ceramic or wood flooring or garage storage area.
□ Wash your hands thoroughly after handling wet items.
□ Do not walk on wet carpet any more than necessary to minimize damage.
□ If sewage related, do not handle any contaminated items and do not turn on fans, heating or air conditioning units as it may spread the contamination.
□ Do not use any type of home vacuum or shop-vac to remove water since electrical shock may occur.

WHAT BRIERCROFT WILL DO WHEN WATER DAMAGE OCCURS:
Dispatch a team of certified, trained, and experienced water damage restoration technicians to your client’s home or business within 60 minutes of your call.
Advise your client of what to do to minimize damage until the team arrives.
Utilize highly sensitive water detection and environmental measurement instruments, and industry-standard techniques, to assess the extent of the water intrusion and establish a scope of work.
Educate your client on exactly what has occurred and how we will take care of their restoration needs.
Move and set furnishings and other contents, pump out freestanding water and perform deep (extreme) extraction of water from carpet, carpet pad, upholstery and contents.
Establish a controlled drying chamber (or chambers) and install the appropriate number of dehumidifiers, high-speed air movers and other specialized drying equipment necessary to dry the structure and contents as quickly as possible. A controlled drying chamber environment is essential to achieving the most efficient drying conditions, as well as to prevent secondary moisture damage.
Monitor, test and document progress of the drying procedure daily, or more often as appropriate for the job conditions, to assure optimum drying conditions are maintained.
